What I’m looking forward to

March 6th, 2010 § 12 comments

  • Morning tea on my sunny balcony
  • Retiring my boots for the summer (I’ve lived in them this long winter)
  • Late afternoons spent on a blanket in the park
  • Stopping for breakfast on a terrace of a cafe on my way into work some mornings
  • A very social March
  • A possible trip to the States soon enough
  • Leaving the house without a coat, 2 scarves, and gloves
  • Trips to the beach with the dogs
  • The need for sunglassses and my parasol again

It’s not that I’ve had nothing to write lately.  On the contrary, I have loads to say, but it’s all going into my real diary, in real words scrawled in ink, meant only for me to get it off my chest and capture this time in my life for my own sake, not so much for the sake of the internets.

But I am still on the look out for blog fodder, and since March is building up to be very full socially, I don’t think that will be much of a problem.  What I want (need) more than anything is the distraction of friends right now (check), a busy work load at the hotel (check) and maybe a hardcore gym routine to make me sweat (no check…not yet anyway).

But right now I’m off to meet a friend for lunch, because this week is Restaurant Week, and I’ve been fully taking advantage of that as an excuse to get together with friends and check out some new places to eat (6 in total, if you must know).  And later on I am going to go see Hot Chip with a good friend, so all in all yes…I’m getting what I want: Distraction.

Sometimes it is too funny how some people just tend to say exactly how you feel yourself. This is in reference to not having a lack of having something to say but rather ” it’s all going into my real diary, in real words scrawled in ink, meant only for me to get it off my chest and capture this time in my life for my own sake, not so much for the sake of the internets’! Yes I quoted you too!!!

So, I do also have stuff to say but most of the time I tend to blog about less immediate thoughts, more refined ones. Other times I like to get down and dirty with the ink and whatever scrap of paper I can find.

To heck with this winter I am so tired of it and seemingly are many other people all over the globe!

Enjoy your “Restaurant week” and social march :)

I really enjoy reading your blog for the “internets”!

    • It does make me wonder, though, what’s going to happen to our internet words when the internet….dissolves? Blows up? Turns into a fad that ends? We’ll always have records of our thoughts put down on paper in diaries, but what about those that we don’t keep copies of, those that we publish online?

      Hmmmm.

Thanks for the lovely comment! :)

I understand your need for Spring…as this was our worst winter ever…we feel the same. Plus, along with illnesses, the dog passing, and more illness…I’ve had enough. I also get that not all items can be shared via blog….some things just have to be kept to yourself. However, don’t let things get you down…pick your chin up..make a list….now your ready to start fresh!

This is how moronic I am: I read ‘retiring my boots’ as you were going to put new tires on them, and I thought, wow, you need tires on your boots, it must really snow heavily in Amsterdam.
    Idiot.

Hot Chip?!?!? I am jealous. A pal of mine just let me borrow his vinyl and it’s fantastic. I must say that Indie music has taken quite a hold of me these days :)

Do you listen to The Raconteurs at all?

    • They’re brilliant! I love the lead singer. Total little geek, just want to pick him up and eat him! :)

I think I’ve probably heard some Raconteurs songs, but I don’t listen to them specifically if you know what I mean. Are they any good?

Why do you need to be distracted? When are you visiting the States? You’re coming here, right? I can distract you if need be. Come to the States, be distracted. Pleeeeeeeeease?

That reminds me that I need to by new sunglasses.

I’m also looking forward to Flight of the Concords in Amsterdam in May
