Sadly not really a blog about kissing. The name of this blog was inspired by this scene from the Simpsons (:26 second mark).
I am an American from New Jersey, but don’t let the stereotypes cloud your mind just yet. And no, I do not “tawk like dat”. I have been living in Amsterdam for nearly seven years (since summer 2005). Before that I lived in Brussels for five years. Eleven years away makes me feel not yet European, no longer American. Instead I feel a strange inbetween…an Atlantican perhaps?
A quick way to get to know me is to read through the songs that have shaped my life (for better or worse).
I have two dogs. (RIP Lola 2004-2011) …Make that one dog.
Other tidbits: I am a vegan, but the dogs…well they eat underwear when no one is watching.
When I see small things I point at them and laugh. Then I take a picture.

Hey, thanks for reading my blog! It is pretty weird that we have the same first and middle names, just reversed. There is an apartment complex here called “Amanda Brooke Apartments” so someone else is using your name, too! I’m loving your blog. How cool is it that you live in Amsterdam?
http://thefunsideofveganism.blogspot.com/ hey is this your blog? You need to turn on full comments because no one can leave a comment! I found you on the VEGAN MOFO blog roll. I think you’d like my site vegan-europe.com come check out my Amsterdam finds!
Thanks for pointing that out! I’ve fixed it and will check out your site!
[...] Today’s entry is called “Vegan Virtual Dinner Date #1.” I’ve invited Amanda from Amanda Blog and Kiss to a “Virtual Dinner.” Amanda is a Bryant Terry fan, so I [...]
Love this blog. I too am an American. I have visited Amsterdam 3 times now with my most recent visit 2009 May. The city seems like a great place to live though I am not sure where I would get started towards that dream. Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s very intersting to see the city from the perspective of someone who has taken up residence.
Hi Johnnie, thanks for commenting! It is a fantastic place to live, but eeking out a living here is a bit harder, to be honest. But maybe the struggle makes the reward that much sweeter?
Well if I had to live on average means but could live in Amsterdam for a while I think it wouldn’t be so bad. Each time I have visited I have met quality people. There is a little bar at the Heinekenplein that I really enjoy. Cafe de Kroeg is the place. actually there are a couple of places but then again each time I have visited I feel I am among friends. Enjoy.
hey!
um… what happened to- ‘i am american’ ::follows asterisk to bottom of page::
*new jersey- holler at your boy- er girl.
Damn, someone’s paying attention!
I deleted it! Can’t remember why, probably because it set a ghetto-tone that I was (am) trying to move away from. You can take the girl outta Jersey, but..etc etc.
I saw this today and thought of you. Lots of small things! http://www.shelikescute.com/blog/?p=109

Hi there! Yes I am still in Amsterdam. Well…feet are, heads still in the clouds as per usual.
